Reiki

Reiki is an energy healing technique for stress reduction and relaxation that involves the therapist using hand movements over and on the body to guide the flow of healthy energy.

What happens during a treatment?

Reiki is performed by the practitioner gently moving her hands just above or on the client’s clothed body, helping reduce stress and promoting healing by encouraging a healthy flow of energy. If you'd rather no contact at all, this is absolutely fine as Reiki can be performed in a hands-off manner. Reiki therapy is a way of guiding energy throughout the body to promote the recipient’s self-healing abilities. The Reiki practitioner doesn’t cause the healing, nor are they the source of that healing energy; they’re a channel for the energy. The word “Reiki” is a combination of two Japanese words: “rei,” which means “universal,” and “ki,” which means “life force energy.”

When energy passageways are blocked, positive energy cannot flow to certain parts of the body, which results in mood swings, fear, anger, pain, and more. Reiki can help keep these passages clear.

Common feelings you might experience during Reiki include tingling, warmth, cold and deep relaxation. You may also see colours during the treatment. (Many clients fall asleep because you become so relaxed and wake up from your session with a new sense of awareness, clarity, and/or connection.) Each person is very different in how they feel and experience the reiki energy. This practice will also continue to shift and change and feel slightly different every time, similar to a meditation. Trust that your experience is exactly what it needs to be on that day.
