Ear Candling

Ear candling (also known as thermo-auricular therapy) aims to help symptoms associated with the ear, nose and throat. It involves placing a hollow, cone-shaped candle made of cotton, soaked in a selection of natural ingredients such as honey extracts, crushed herbs and beeswax into the ear canal. The lit candle creates a vacuum, stimulates the ear and is believed to facilitate the removal of impurities and aid the movement of congestion. Ear candling can promote deep relaxation and helps to relieve stress and revitalise the body.

What happens during a treatment?

When carried out professionally, an ear candling session can be a relaxing and enjoyable experience for the client. Prior to your appointment I will email you a Client Assessment Form so that I can review your medical history and current symptoms to help assess if ear candling is the right treatment for you.

For the ear candling treatment, you will be placed in a comfortable position on your side before I gently place the specialised candle in your ear. This will be lit and held in place while it burns for around 10 minutes. You are likely to hear a crackling sound as the candle burns and feel a warm, gentle massaging sensation in the ear. When the candle has burned completely, it will be removed from your ear and extinguished. This process is then repeated on the other ear. This treatment also includes a face and scalp massage. As well as enhancing your relaxation the massage can be particularly effective in helping with sinus congestion relief.
